International Medieval Combat Federation World Championships

Pride, Passion, Skill and Comradery are all essential qualities for this historic sporting event which guarantees to be a great day out for all! 

These World Championships are held annually and attract competitors from across the globe including Mexico, South Africa, New Zealand, Canada, USA, Russia, Japan and Europe. This event is the largest ever event of its type to take place in the UK. The International Medieval Combat Federation, (IMCF) is a global historical full contact sport fighting revival movement, in which combatants use historically accurate reproduction medieval and early modern armour and blunted weapons to engage in competitive fights according to authentic historical tournament rules.

The battles take place in a traditional arena which is called a 'List’ and range from one on one fights up to fights between 2 teams of 16.

In addition to the main event, there will be a host of other fantastic entertainment throughout the day. We will have a great selection of local artizan street food and drink, music, medieval retailers, along with stalls selling replica and toy swords, helmets and figurines. falconry, archery, children's games and so much more. You will also have the change to explore the medieval encampment where you can meet the competitors and their officials and experience the armoury for yourself! 

Gates open for parking at 9.00am with battles running from 10.00am - 6.00pm and gates close at 8.00pm.

PLEASE NOTE DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON A LEAD AT ALL TIMES WHEN WITHIN THE PALACE GROUNDS.
