Scone Palace has appointed Xenoph Larg as its new Head of Catering.
Xenoph, known as Xen, joins the award-winning historic Perthshire attraction from the prestigious Strathallan School in Perth, where he was Head Chef and Production Manager.
Xen, born and raised in Fife, Scotland, comes to Scone Palace with an impressive pedigree, including 10 years as Head Chef of Hibernian Football Club and restaurant positions in Edinburgh, Dunfermline and Perth, Australia.
Scone Palace is one of Scotland’s most popular visitor attractions with more than 100,000 visitors a year visiting the historic building and gardens. It features a coffee shop, restaurant, private dining spaces and its own vegetable garden which provides an abundance of produce for the kitchen.
As well as being the crowning place of the Kings of Scotland, Scone Palace also has a luxury accommodation wing and hosts a range of popular events, including Rewind Festival, the first UK held, International Medieval Combat Federation World Championships, and, recently, BBC Biggest Weekend.
Xen said: “My family and I love Scone Palace and I got a great feeling about working here the minute I came for an interview. The catering staff are incredible - I couldn’t have found a happier, more supportive team. And my six-year-old daughter is proudly telling people her dad works in a Palace!”
Stephen Brannigan, Head of House Opening at Scone Palace said:
“Xen’s wide range of experience, from contract catering to running restaurant kitchens to cooking private dinners for the Hibs players, made him an ideal choice to head up the catering here at Scone Palace. We’re excited about having him on board to expand the range of catering we can offer our visitors, corporate clients, private guests and wedding parties.”
